Healesville closes in on $60,000 Big Freeze fundraising target

Healesville Greyhound Racing Club has once again rallied behind FightMND, raising an incredible $55,707 through its annual Big Freeze at The Ville event.

The figure, recorded at 9am on June 8, has already surpassed the club’s previous fundraising record of $33,000 set in 2025, with organisers now within touching distance of their ambitious $60,000 target.

More than 20 personalities braved the club’s 4.5 metre slide and icy plunge on Sunday, helping raise vital funds in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Leading the charge was Healesville Greyhound Racing Club General Manager Peter Frost, who praised the support of both the greyhound industry and the local community.

“It’s been a fantastic day,” Frost said.

“The support from the greyhound industry and the local community has been incredible, and we’re so thankful to be part of it all.”

The event was no small undertaking, with the club’s track staff battling cold and wet conditions throughout the week to bring the fundraiser to life.

“I want to thank everyone who played a role in making this event possible,” Frost said.

“We’re proud to come together as a community for such an important cause, and it’s something we’ll continue to support into the future.”

Donations remain open, with the club less than $5,000 away from reaching its fundraising goal.
